MPA – The Association of Magazine Media (formerly Magazine Publishers Association) has issued a study entitled “The Magazine Mobile Reader,” in which they “examine the attitudes and behaviors” of folks who read app-based magazines on their tablets and e-readers.  One particularly interesting finding is that owning a tablet or e-reader seems to encourage folks to read more magazine content:

  • 90 percent of respondents consume as much–if not more–magazine content since acquiring their mobile devices.
  • 66 percent of respondents plan to consume more digital magazines in the future.
  • 63 percent complained that there aren’t enough magazines in digital form.
  • 55 percent expressed an interest in reading digital back issues of magazines.
  • 83 percent want to be able to archive a specific article or an entire issue of a magazine.
  • 86 percent want to be able to share magazines or specific articles.
