Huffington Post Traffic Dwarfs Most Top Online Magazines
December 8, 2011
It’s striking to see how the traffic in online visits to Huffington Post during this year dwarfs the traffic to most internet magazines, such as: Salon.com, Wired, Gawker, and Time, at least, according to Google Trends:
I think the takeaway from this is that people prefer controversial content perhaps more than erudite, literary content. People have more of a desire to be outraged or polarized than educated and informed.
I could be wrong, however, but I’m guessing that if I do a similar comparison between general interest or news zines versus gossip rags, I’d still find these sorts of results.
